In the ancient times, Southeast Asia belonged to many tribes, with rich culture, and interesting linguistic patterns. The main thing to do in those tribes was to farm, fish, hunt, and such. Since there were a lot of rain forests in the area collecting items from the forest and selling them in the market was not unusual. In the Indo-China peninsula, there was a lot of natural resources, such as spices, gold, and minerals. The rich forests, great plateaus, and exquisite oceans helped tribes in Southeast Asia trade with one another.
Religion:
The minerals and resources the tribes had became part of their culture. They used spices as incense to pray to the Gods, and Hindu and Buddhist temples were built when the religion became rich and strong. A lot of the art, life style, and food are influenced from India, who also introduced Hinduism. The religions Hindu and Buddhism are the main religions in Southeast Asia today, but a lot of other religions have been creeping in, such as Christianity.

The Europeans was attracted to Southeast Asia because of its resources. The area was controlled by the British, French, Dutch, German, and Portuguese. After the European had gone away, Southeast Asia regained independence, but in the World War II the Japanese took over Southeast Asia. When the Europeans came back after the World War II Southeast Asia wasn't the same. Everything was in shambles. Luckily, it has rebuilt itself to become a great tourist resort!
